We've had a splendid kick-off to July, as many of you found us in your goody bags on the Hampton Luxury Liner. We'll be in a few more fun places and events this month and next, so look for us wherever you are. If for some reason, you can't find a copy of the Local Art Rag, give us a call or send us an e-mail and we'll do our best to get you one. We try and keep everyplace stocked up each week, but the magazine is now being picked up and disappearing very quickly - one measure of our success!
Of course now that the summer is in full swing, the villages are full and there are exhibitions, music gigs, benefits and all sorts of other things to keep you busy - and not just on weekends! All week there are shows to see, galleries and artists to vists, and outdoor music all over the Hamptons (and don't forget the food!).
Our current heatwave is a reminder to use sunscreen while on the beach, in the pool, or out and about the villages, but if you want to stay out of the sun for awhile, then look up some of our artists and musicians in the Directory pages and arrange a visit to a studio! The artists are listed with us so you you can find them easily, and there are a slowly growing number that are adding images to their listings so you get a 'sneak peak' before you contact them.
This is what the Local Art Rag is for - finding artists and musicians that are creating the pieces you want to see and hear. We are as wide ranging as we can be, covering many places you may not have visited before. Shelter Island and the North Fork, for example, are a short ride away on lovely, small ferries where you can get a real feeling for what the East End is about. If you've never been there, what a nice day trip you could have!
